Restore Your Missing Tooth With a Dental Implant

April 29, 2016

For over twenty years, dental implants have been a successful treatment when it comes to restoring an individual missing tooth. Dental implant technology has soared over the years with new devices and techniques leaving a wave of beautiful smiles in its wake. Today, they can also be used to anchor a bridge or lock removable dentures into place so they don’t slip or lose grip from your gums.

At Pro Dental Dallas, we believe in your comfort and care first. We offer high-quality care and are happy to talk to you about the process so that you can feel secure. The process begins with some X-rays of the area meant for your dental implant. This will let us know if your jaw is strong enough to support dentures and give us a better visual. If you have any gum disease or tooth decay that has caused you to lose bone, a bone graft might be needed before the dental implant procedure.

The surgical procedure for the dental implant requires sedation. So, keep in mind that you will need someone to drive you home after your appointment. The dental implant is placed through a small incision in your gums. The implant itself is made of titanium because it is biologically safe and will fuse to your bone. Once it is healed, a dental crown can be placed over it.
