If you break your denture, don’t panic. Most broken dentures can be repaired in our office the same day you come in. Unlike other dental offices that have to send your denture away to be repaired, Pro Dental Dallas has an on-site lab. This means we have the facilities for in-office denture repair.
What Should I Do If My Denture Breaks?
The first thing you should do when your denture breaks is contact our office and we’ll get you in for an appointment as soon as possible. Usually we can schedule you within a day or two of calling.
Is A Broken Denture An Emergency?
When your denture breaks, you need to get in to see us as soon as you can. However, this is not the type of dental emergency that requires an ER or urgent care visit. You can wait a few days to get this taken care of if need be. In the meantime, you should not use your dentures.
Is There a Glue For Dentures?
If you can’t make it in immediately, you may be tempted to glue the denture back together. Although this is not recommended, if you have no other option, be sure to apply super glue to the cracked pieces only where the break occurred.
Use a small paint brush or a q-tip to apply the supply glue. Do not squeeze it directly from the bottle, otherwise it may run all over the teeth and not be able to be removed by our staff when we are repairing it.
When gluing, only glue the denture when it is outside of your mouth. Hold the two pieces together firmly until the glue has completely set.
Can Dentures That Are Broken in Half Be Repaired?
Usually, dentures that break in half can be repaired. Once you are able to get to the office, we can repair the denture with acrylic and it will look like new.
How Long Does It Take To Fix Broken Dentures?
Our office has an on-site dental lab that allows us to fix a broken denture on the same day you bring it in while you wait. Dental offices that do not have a lab on-site will have to send away the denture and it could take a few weeks depending on the lab they use. For the most immediate repair, you should use an office that has a lab.
