A Toothache Might be a Sign of a Serious Problem

July 21, 2016

Pain in your tooth should never be ignored. Toothaches are like warning sirens going off in your body telling you there could be an issue your dentist, Dr. Jason Roe needs to address immediately.

What Causes a Toothache

Some toothaches are caused by accidents, sports injuries, falling, and even car accidents can cause damage to your teeth. Other causes can be cavities or gum disease that is also causing the pain.

How to Relieve The Pain of a Toothache

If you see blood or debris in your mouth, you can try rinsing it with lukewarm saltwater. If you experience any swelling from your mouth, cheeks, or even lips, use a cool compress and hold it to the area for about 15 minutes. This will help with the pain and swelling.

When to See a Dentist

If no blood or swelling is visible but the pain is uncomfortable, this could be a sign that the problem is coming from tooth decay. There are temporary relievers you can use to relieve the pain such as over-the-counter medications until you can schedule an appointment with Dr. Jason Roe.
