A Dental Implant Can Restore Your Missing Tooth

February 10, 2016

For over twenty years, the dentist has used dental implants as an oral treatment option to restore missing teeth. Dental implants can also be used to hold dentures or bridges into place. Here in Dallas, Texas, our team of experts is proud to help you understand more about dental implants so that you can know if they are right for you.

To begin the process of placing a dental implant, a series of x-rays are needed. This is because it will give your dentist an understanding of the strength and structure of your jaw. If you have suffered bone loss from having a missing tooth, you might need a bone graft to ensure the dental implant will have the anchor and support it needs to keep your smile healthy.

When you are ready for the dental implant procedure, remember this does require sedation, so you will need a friend or family member to drive you home and help you until you are back on your feet. There is also a healing process involved, and if you get plenty of rest, eat softer foods, and drink lots of water, you will be helping your body heal swiftly.

After the healing process is over, your dentist, Dr. Jason Roe will inspect your smile to make sure it is ready for a dental crown. The dental crown that goes over the dental implant will blend in with your natural teeth and give you a complete smile restoration.
